One of the most unfortunate
aspects of the Kurdish community
is that a large number
of its members are unable to
speak their own languages.
The roots of this problem are
the political problems faced
by the Kurdish people in
their home lands and the
restrictions on the use of their
mother tongue.
It is for this reason that the
KCC has been leading in the
provision of mother tongue
classes for the members of its
community.
Currently Kurdish“Kurmaci”
is thought to children as part
of the KCC’s supplementary
school and to young adults
on Saturdays and Sundays.
The KCC treats these classes
as a vital part of its services
to its community for the simple
reason that without their
mother tongue the community
will be without its cultural
identity. |
